Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in a section of Newark's North Ward Sunday morning.
According to police, officials a male suspect entered the Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville suffering non-life threatening injuries shortly before 5:10 a.m.
The victim told authorities that while in the vicinity of North 7th and 3rd Avenue, a suspect produced a bat and went on the attack.
Police say the suspect fled the scene after the incident.
The motive for the attack is under investigation.
