Police Identify Fatal Victim of Route 3 Crash as 57-Year-Old Newark Man

The fatal victim of the Route 3 crash in Secaucus has been identified as a 57-year-old Newark man, authorities said today.

Leonard David Bowens succumbed to the injuries suffered Wednesday, when the van he was riding in was crushed by a steel structure when the tractor-trailer it was on struck a Route 3 overpass.

The driver of the van, 52-year-old Daulton Banks, 52, also of Newark, was also extricated and is said to be in stable condition at Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health. 

The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as Ralph Bosco, 37, of Staten Island, N.Y. He was treated and released from Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation.
