A SWAT team was called in to assist in an incident where a man barricaded himself inside a Hackensack residence at around midnight.
According to police, the knife-wielding suspect held officers at bay for several hours at the Quail Heights Apartments.
Police say the suspect was wanted for an assault on a female but refused to be taken into custody.
The drama ended just before 4:30 a.m. when SWAT members utilized pepper spray to take the suspect into custody, according to police.
There were no severe injuries reported and the incident remains under investigation.
