Police Charge Newark Woman with Illegal Dumping

Police officials in Newark are reporting the arrest of Ms. Chantel T. Jeffers, 23, of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping that occurred on Monday.

According to a statement released by authorities, at approximately 12:55 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed a woman exit her parked vehicle at Hawthorne, and Jelliff avenues then remove a cardboard box and a bag of refuse from the trunk and place the items into a dumpster.

Police approached, then arrested Chantel Jeffers and is charged her with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

Authorities towed the vehicle used to transport the dumped materials, and it is subject to seizure by forfeiture police officials said.

According to reports, resident's in the city's South Ward has made an abundance of complaints regarding illegal dumping and subjects discarding waste in several communities.

These charges are merely accusations lodged against Ms. Jeffers.

She is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
