Police Arrest Woman Accused of Vehicle Burglary in Harrison

An alert resident helped police capture an alleged vehicle burglary suspect in Harrison.

According to police, on August 24th at approximately 8:18 p.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of 1st and Sussex streets on a report of a suspicious male attempting to gain access to a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the caller who stated that a black male, gained access to an orange Fresh Direct box truck that the driver parked on 1st St. and Sussex St.

According to the witness, the suspect removed several items from the vehicle and then fled southbound on First Street according to police.

Police performed an area search that resulted in the arrest of **Ms. Danielle Mitchell** then charged her with burglary, theft of movable property, and receiving stolen property after the witness positively identified her.

A search revealed to police to the seizure of a Panasonic SOTI MobiControl item scanner, a set of car keys belonging to a 2004 Ford Taurus, an Apple phone charger, a set of Apple headphones, and a black wallet stuffed in the pockets of Mitchell's Walmart vest.

Police transported Mitchell to Harrison Police Headquarters without incident.

A further background check of Mitchell led to her having two outstanding warrants out of Newark, in the amount of $10,750.00 police said.
