Police Arrest Two Juveniles, 19-Year-Old for Their Alleged Roles in Two Paterson Carjacking; Fourth Juvenile Sought

Paterson

Police in Paterson today announced the arrest of two juveniles - ages 15 and 17, and 19-year-old Shamel Wilkins of East 21st Street, responsible for two armed carjackings that occurred in the Eastside and People's Park section of the city on November 5th.

A warrant has been issued for a 16 year-old male juvenile, who absconded after learning that he was being sought for these crimes.

Detective Phillip Calicchio and Detective Mike Figueroa vigorously investigated both cases, where they established probable cause to charge all four with two-counts of first degree carjacking, two-counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and two-counts of possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

"I want to commend the leadership and members of the juvenile division for their quick and swift investigation and action which has held those accountable for their actions. "Whether the juvenile goes across a jurisdictional boundary or an ocean we will reach out and bring him back to face justice," said Jerry Speziale, Police Director.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
