Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men connected to a violent robbery that occurred in the city’s Ironbound section earlier this month.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17, in the 100 block of Adams Street.
The victim told police he was approached from behind by three men who demanded money.
When the victim said he had none, one of the suspects struck him on the head with a black handgun.
All three suspects fled southbound on Adams Street, police said.
A short time later, while canvassing the area, officers learned from a concerned resident that the same group had attempted another robbery nearby.
Investigators identified one of the suspects as 24-year-old Mr Mahkie Motley of Newark.
He was arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Detectives are continuing their search for the remaining two suspects and are urging anyone with information about their identities to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (695-8477).
