Police Arrest Man Wanted for Wanaque Stabbing

Officials in Passaic County announced that based upon an investigation by the Wanaque Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Michael W. Harth, 37, from Wanaque was arrested on Wednesday with an investigation into a stabbing that took place the same day.

Police say Mr. Harth is charged with Attempted Murder, First Degree, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Third Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Fourth Degree and Aggravated Assault, Second Degree.

According to police, members of the Wanaque Police Department responded to a residential address on a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they located a 36-year old Wanaque resident who sustained life-threatening stab wounds.

The victim was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

Based on the investigation, Mr. Harth was identified as the perpetrator and arrested on the scene.

Officials say Mr. Harth is currently in the custody of the Passaic County Jail.

The State filed a motion for pretrial detention in this matter that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.
