Police Arrest Man for Operating Illegal Alcohol Establishment in Newark

Newark Police officials announced the arrest of Mr. Eric G. Thorpe, 36, of Morristown, for maintaining an unlicensed liquor establishment today.

According to police, at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to 219 Emmet Street on information regarding an illegal after-hours operation.

Authorities say responding officers observed several bottles of various alcoholic beverages at the location, with Thorpe instructing two women on where to place the bottles.

Detectives determined that Thorpe was operating the establishment. He was immediately arrested and is charged with Maintaining an Unlicensed Liquor Establishment and Unlawful Possession of Alcohol according to police.

Police say the two women, Ms.Erica J. Espinoza, 29, of Plainfield, and Ms. Nicole R. Davis, 33, of Randolph, were also arrested.

Both ladies face a charge of Aiding and Abetting an Unlicensed Liquor Establishment.

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
