Police closed off a portion of Grove Street in Irvington after they engaged in a search for a gun Sunday afternoon.
According to initial reports, police were called to the 200 block of 19th Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. where they arrived to question a male who began to flee on foot.
Officers reportedly gave chase to the suspect where they caught up with him a short distance away according to reports.
A gun located inside a dumpster was allegedly tossed by the suspect.
EMS were called to the scene for injuries, as a significant police presence searched for additional evidence in the area.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
