Police Arrest Man for Alleged Attack, Robbery of Food Delivery Driver in Downtown Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Nasir Williams (left), 18, of Newark, who was wanted for a robbery that occurred in the city's downtown in early September.

According to police, on Friday, September 8, 2017, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a food delivery man was robbed in the area of Broad and Cedar streets.

Police said EMS transported the victim to University Hospital then released him after doctors treated him for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Nasir Williams as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.

Police took Williams into custody without incident.

Thes charges are mere accusations, Mr. Willaims is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
