Police Apprehend Armed Robbery Suspect Who Barricaded Himself in a Newark Building

Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Mr. Frank C. Carroll, 31, of Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred yesterday.

According to police at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a residential building at 15 Hill Street on a robbery call.

Police said a man was robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect who was last seen entering the building with a child.

When police arrived, the suspect barricaded himself inside of the apartment.

Shortly after police arrived the suspect allowed the child to leave the apartment.

Members of the Newark Police Division’s Emergency Services Unit apprehended the suspect, Frank C. Carroll and charged him with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
