Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Mr. Paulo Facanha, 46, of Newark for the alleged sexual assault of a female juvenile.
Police said the sexual assault occurred between April 21st and April 23rd, of this year inside an East Ward residence.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, detectives investigating the incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Paulo Facanha as a suspect in this sexual assault and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Police arrested Mr. Facanha was arrested on Thursday, August 17th without incident then charged him with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault, two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault (contact), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
