Pleasantville Man Sentenced on Burglary Charges

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, July 3, Laqua Tucker, 21, from Pleasantville, was sentenced by the Honorable Joseph Levin, J.S.C., on two counts of third-degree burglary to three years in New Jersey State Prison concurrent.

Atlantic County officials say that on January 2, 2024, officers of the Absecon Police Department responded to the Sun Petro gas station in response to a break-in.

Officers observed that the glass door to the business was shattered and there were droplets of blood left by the suspect amongst the shattered glass on the ground, ACPO officials said. 

Atlantic County officials stated that police submitted the blood to a lab to identify the suspect.

According to ACPO officials, on May 30, 2024, officers of the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the Tobacco Outlet in response to a break-in. Officers observed that the glass front door was shattered and the cash registers inside the business were open.

The suspect left fingerprints on the open cash register at the scene, and police were able to identify the suspect as Tucker, ACPO officials say. 

Atlantic County authorities stated that surveillance footage showed Tucker using a rock and a metal pole to break the glass and enter the business.

Tucker was subsequently located and arrested, ACPO officials said. 

Police conducted a DNA test on Tucker that identified him as a match for the suspect in the January break-in.
