Plainfield Police Arrest Man who Left the Scene of Fatal Pedestrian Strike

Police in Plainfield took a man into custody for leaving the scene of a pedestrian strike that left one person dead on Sunday morning.

According to a statement released by Plainfield Police, at approximately 2:35 a.m., a 39-year-old male was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in the area of the 1100 block of West 8th St.

Officials say the driver, a 37-year-old male South Plainfield resident, drove away from the scene.

Unfortunately, the unidentified male that was struck died due to the injuries officials said.

Police charged the driver with, Knowingly Leaving the Scene of Motor Vehicle accident resulting in death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
