Authorities in Union County announced today that a Plainfield man was sentenced today for the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Amazon delivery driver Jamar Harris of Newark, which occurred in 2021.

According to officials, Quahif Lane, 28, was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison for Aggravated Manslaughter, directing that he must serve at least 85% of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

Assistant Prosecutor Chris Desimone, who prosecuted the case, stated that shortly after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to the 200 block of Garfield Avenue and found Harris, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

Harris was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. “I thank all involved law enforcement agencies and concerned citizens whose contributions were essential to the expeditious apprehension of Mr. Lane,” Prosecutor Daniel said.

“Our thoughts are with Mr. Harris’ family and loved ones.”
