Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Watchung Police Chief Scott Anderle announced the arrest of Naseem Eure, of West 4th Street in Plainfield, following an investigation into gunfire reported on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Authorities said Watchung police responded to a 9-1-1 call around 9:39 p.m. reporting gunshots at a business on Route 22 West.

When officers arrived, they discovered gunshot damage to the building. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit joined Watchung investigators at the scene.

According to investigators, a vehicle approached a man walking on the sidewalk outside the business.

The passenger door opened, and a gunshot was fired. Several other patrons were nearby, but no injuries were reported.

Through the investigation, Eure was identified as the passenger who fired the shot. He was arrested without incident in Plainfield on June 2, 2025, and transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Eure faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree endangering another person.

He is being held at the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing.
