Piscataway Man Charged with Killing Brother

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Scott Cartmell of the Piscataway Police Department said a township man was arrested today and charged with fatally shooting his brother last week.

Jahneel Stevenson of Piscataway was charged with murder, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the shooting of Henry Stevenson Jr., 24, of Piscataway.

The defendant was charged during an intensive investigation by Detective Kyle Weaver of the Piscataway Police Department, and Detective Erik Larsen of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police responded to the shooting in the area of West Third Street and Poplar Place at approximately 7 p.m. on June 16, 2017.

Upon arrival, police found the victim on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he later was pronounced dead.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
