Newark Emergency Responders' contingency teamed up with Lyndhurst Fire Departments’ Dive Search and Rescue Team to search for possible trapped occupants inside a truck found in a Newark South Ward lake.
At around 5:30 a.m., the Essex County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a pickup truck that reportedly left the roadway inside Weequahic Park and plugged into the lake.
Authorities confirmed a vehicle in the water, but after an underwater search of the truck, no immediate injuries were reported.
Essex officials will handle the investigation.
There were no other details available regarding the incident.
