According to a statement released by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, 43-year-old Ebony Gee was taken into custody on July 14, 2025, in Philadelphia.

She faces charges of second-degree desecration of human remains and second-degree witness tampering.

The investigation began on May 19, when Camden police and EMS responded to a home on the 1200 block of Lakeshore Drive following a report of an unresponsive infant.

Inside a second-floor bedroom, authorities found the lifeless body of a male infant concealed in a trash bag placed in a bassinet.

Detectives learned that Gee had been staying in the bedroom and was caring for the infant on behalf of his biological parents since mid-April.

A witness later told investigators that Gee refused to allow anyone to see the baby and that the child was never seen in the home.

The witness eventually discovered the infant’s body and contacted police.

Investigators also uncovered threatening text messages sent by Gee to the witness on the same day the infant was found, further raising suspicion.

Due to the condition of the body, the Medical Examiner’s Office was unable to immediately determine the cause and manner of death.

However, DNA analysis conducted by the New Jersey State Police Laboratory later confirmed the child’s identity as 4-month-old W.H. of Philadelphia.

Gee was arrested in Philadelphia by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Task Force. She is currently being held at the Riverside Correctional Facility pending extradition to New Jersey.
