EDISON – A 44-year-old Perth Amboy man died after accidentally falling 35 feet onto a concrete floor Monday morning inside a Raritan Center warehouse where he was employed, police said.
Police identified the victim as Jose R. Caba who apparently fell off a cargo lift at 7:30 a.m. while handling merchandise on tall storage shelves inside the Macy’s warehouse at 401 Clearview Ave., police Capt. Joseph Shannon said.
Authorities say Police, firefighters and EMTs responded to the accident scene.
The initial investigation indicates Caba, who worked for Macy’s for about 14 years, apparently was not tethered to the cargo lift as a safety precaution when he lost his footing, police said.
