Person Struck by Amtrak Train in Edison

NJ Transit and Amtrak service on the North East Corridor line has been temporarily suspended as emergency responders are on the scene investigating an incident where a train struck a person a short time ago.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. at the Edison train station where according to reports the victim was struck in the vicinity of the platform by Amtrak train number 2262 Acela service traveling from Washington to Boston.

The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.

UPDATE 8:23 p.m. This is a confirmed fatality.
