A body was recovered just south of the bridge, by emergency responders shortly after 10:30 p.m. when an adult female jumped off the Goethals Bridge on Sunday evening.
Officials said it happened around 8:30 p.m. when witnesses said they observed a person jump from the bridge near Bayway Avenue and South Front Street.
Police also found her car on the bridge.
The victim fell about 140 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Currently, the family has not been notified and more information will be released once they have been reached.
The incident remains under investigation.
