Sheriff's detectives for Essex County are looking into the motive for a stabbing inside a park in Newark's North Ward overnight.
At approximately 11:25 p.m., The Essex County Sheriff's Office received reports of an aggravated assault inside Branch Brook Park.
Upon arrival, officers requested EMS to the scene after finding the victim suffering a stab wound to the chest.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the extent of their injuries has not been released at this time.
Branch Brook Park is a county park secured and patrolled by the Essex County Sheriff's Office.
