Residents in a neighborhood in Irvington were awakened early Tuesday morning after Irvington Police rang bells and knocked on doors in an attempt to obtain information regarding a person found lying dead in the street in the Township.
Authorities have not released information on the circumstances regarding the incident, but according to residents who live on 18th Avenue and Munn, who spoke to RLS Metro, they did not hear any commotion or shots fired during the overnight hours.
Police covered the body of the unidentified person shortly before taping off the area for the investigation.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not immediately confirm a homicide investigation.
