The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation after a person was found hanging near a busy intersection in Jersey City on Monday afternoon.

According to preliminary information, officers were called to the area of Paterson Plank Road and Congress Street around 1:40 p.m., following reports of a severely injured individual.
Upon arrival, police found bystanders attempting CPR on an unresponsive person. Emergency medical services were immediately requested to the scene.
Authorities later confirmed that the individual had been discovered hanging. It remains unclear at this time whether the incident was self-inflicted.
Officials have not released the identity of the person, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under active investigation.
No further details have been released by law enforcement as of Tuesday morning. NJ Transit buses and Light Rail has been halted or re-routed.
