Police in Newark are working to determine the cause of death after discovering an individual deceased inside an abandoned home Saturday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of suspicious activity at approximately 6:40 p.m. at a vacant three-story residence located at 40 4th Street.
Upon entering, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive person inside.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not indicated if foul play is suspected and have released few additional details regarding the incident.
The exact cause of death will be determined by the State Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
