As you step out this Thursday, make sure that umbrella is close by, steady rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact much of the region throughout the day.

In downtown Newark, early risers are waking up to humid skies, cloudy conditions, and temperatures around 72 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, periods of heavy rain will move through late morning into lunchtime, followed by scattered showers across the afternoon.
Forecasters warn of patchy fog and a chance of thunderstorms after 8 a.m.
The high temperature is expected to reach near 77 degrees, with south winds around 6 to 9 mph.
Rainfall amounts could total between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch.
The unsettled weather will continue into Thursday night, with showers and thunderstorms likely before 2 a.m. and lingering showers afterward.
Overnight lows will settle near 67 degrees, with more patchy fog possible.

Despite the damp conditions, temperatures remain mild across New Jersey, with most areas beginning the day near or above 70 degrees.
