People's Organization for Progress to Host Annual MLK March in Newark

Newark

On Saturday, January 16, the People’s Organization for Progress will host their annual march to observe the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for what would have been his 92nd birthday.

Participants will assemble at the Lincoln Monument, 12 Springfield Avenue in Newark at 12 p.m.

The theme for this year’s march is ‘The People Are Suffering’ with a renewed call for Economic Justice in the face of the COVID Pandemic and its displacement of millions of working people.

Participants will address a range of issues from the unique needs of Economic Justice and Racial Equity in the context of the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis to recent cases of Police Brutality and the outrage of the attack on the U.S. Capitol as a threat to Democracy.

P.O.P. meets virtually every Thursday at 7 p.m.
