A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening near The Mall at Short Hills, prompting a large emergency response in the area.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the John F. Kennedy Parkway side of the mall following multiple reports of a person down in the roadway.
Upon arrival, police and EMS personnel found an unidentified victim unconscious and unresponsive.
First responders immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR, before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The individual’s condition was reported as severe.
Authorities said the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The driver was also treated for trauma following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active and ongoing investigation.
