Last night, a pedestrian accident in Newark's Central Ward resulted in serious injuries, prompting an urgent response from Newark Police.
Police and emergency services were dispatched to the vicinity of 229 Bergen Street at 14th Avenue following reports of an injured person received just before 10 p.m.
Police and EMS arrived and found the victim at the scene, who had sustained significant injuries due to being struck by a vehicle.
Medical personnel quickly attended to the victim, who was then transported to the nearby University Hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by Newark Police.
