EMS transported an unidentified person to Beth Israel Hospital after the victim was struck by a car at a location in the city's South Ward Monday morning.
According to police, the incident happened in the vicinity of Lyons Avenue and Willoughby Street just before 1:45 a.m.
Emergency responders found the victim suffering serious injuries at that location.
The Newark Police De[partment is handling the investigation at this time.
