Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Newark; Arrest Made

EMS transported an unidentified person to University Hospital after they were struck by a car on a street in Newark on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at around 9:35 p.m. in the 300 block of Washington Street when witnesses reported an injured person to 911 dispatchers.

Emergency rescue crews arrived and found the unconscious victim laying on te ground after a car struck them at that location.

Police reportedly located the vehicle that attempted to flee the area then tried to pull the driver over near the original scene when several occupants bailed from the car.

Officers took one person into custody after a brief foot pursuit and a gun was found during a search of the vehicle according to reports. Two other suspects remain at-large.

The pedestrian's injuries were only reported as serious according to officials.
