An overnight pedestrian strike in New Brunswick has left one person critically injured, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.

The incident occurred around 11:47 p.m. on NJ-27 near Quentin Avenue, a busy roadway in the city.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene after receiving reports and found an individual lying in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries as a result of the collision.

For the safety and efficiency of the ongoing investigation, police closed all lanes on NJ-27 near the incident.

The victim, who was not identified, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for critical medical treatment.

The victim remains in critical condition, and no further information about the incident or the individuals involved has been made available.
