Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Toms River Identified

Authorities have released the identity of the 37-year-old pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle after attempting to cross Toms River road.

According to police, on December 12th at 5:06 p.m., officers and medical units responded to the intersection of Fischer Boulevard and Fairview Drive for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, police located 37-year-old Richard Bococinski injured in the roadway.

Police said Bococinski, of Fairview Drive, was struck by a 2003 Mercury, operated by Michael Ferone. Ferone, 47, of Shenandoah Boulevard, was traveling North in the right lane of Fischer Boulevard when Bococinski allegedly stepped into the roadway, reportedly giving Ferone no time to take evasive action.

Emergency responders transported Bococinski to a local hospital where he died later in the evening.

The crash is under investigation by Toms River Traffic Officer Mark Nater and Ocean County Prosecutors Office Detective Brad Frank.

The crime scene was processed by members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department C.S.I Division.
