Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car on NJ-37 in Toms River

Investigators in Toms River are looking into a pedestrian strike that left one person dead on a roadway in the city Saturday night.

According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity NJ-37 westbound near NJ-166 after they received reports of an injured person at approximately 11:25 p.m.

Units arrived at the scene found an unidentified person laying on the ground suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.

EMs transported the victim to an area hospital where medical professionals pronounced the victim dead a short time later according to reports.

Police temporarily closed NJ-37 while they investigated the incident according to police.

There were no other injuries reported.
