Police in Lacey Township are on the search for the driver of a car that struck a pedestrian then sped away from the scene during the overnight hours.
Emergency responder and rescue crews were called to the vicinity of 419 Lake Barnegat Driver after they received reports of an injured person at approximately 1:10 a.m.
Crews arrived on the scene and immediately requested a medivac helicopter after they found a male victim suffering a severe head injury according to reports.
Police are looking for a small white 4-door SUV with a possible damaged headlight that fled the scene after striking the victim.
The victim was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. One other person suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
