Pedestrian Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Jersey City

Police in Jersey City issued a be on the lookout for a vehicle wanted for running over a bicyclist and speeding from the scene  Friday night. 

Prosecutor Suarez said shortly after 8 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Woodlawn Avenue.

Responding officers located a victim – later identified as a 48-year-old Union City woman – with an injury to a lower extremity.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation was turned over to the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit on Saturday, February 4, 2023, after being notified of the severity of the victim’s injuries.

She remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police believe the vehicle was last observed heading northbound on Mattin Luther King Drive. 

The incident is under investigation.
