Pedestrian Struck by a Freight Train in Bergen County


Authorities in Bergen County are looking into the circumstances behind a freight train strike that injured a pedestrian on the border of Wyckoff-Midland Park on Wednesday night. 

According to preliminary information, at approximately 11:10 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the Newtown Road portion of the tracks to investigate reports of a person hit by a freight train.

Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person suffering injuries. 

EMS transported the victim to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson for treatment, and is in an unknown condition. 

The incident remains under investigation.
