Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that seriously injured a person near a park in Newark's North Ward during the overnight hours.
According to police, emergency responders rushed to Lake Street and Park Avenue side of Branch Brook Park to investigate reports of an injured person just before midnight.
Police and EMS arrived to find an unidentified person suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment, according to police.
There were no other injuries reported.
