Pedestrian Struck by Car in Clifton

Authorities in Passaic County reported that on Monday, at approximately 5:40 PM, a 61-year-old male Passaic Resident was crossing the street in the vicinity of the 500 block of Lexington Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Lexington Avenue.

According to Clifton Police, the driver fled the scene and the pedestrian was tended to by arriving police officers and fire department personnel.

Officials say the victim was transported to St. Joseph’s in Paterson and is currently in severe condition.

As of this morning, the man is still in the ICU.

According to officials, the driver returned to the scene a short time later and was arrested based on the circumstances involved.

Mr. Hector Pena-Morillo, 25, of Clifton, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Endangering an Injured Victim.

He was also charged with Driving without a license.
