Pedestrian Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run in Newark

A man is in critical but stable condition after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Newark.
 

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, police responded to the area of McCarter Highway and Rector Street at approximately 2:41 a.m. on November 1,  following reports of a pedestrian struck.

 

Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been hit by a vehicle. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
 

Authorities said the driver involved in the crash fled the scene and did not remain to render aid.

 

The incident remains under active investigation by the Newark Police Division, and anyone with information is urged to contact detectives.
