Authorities in East Orange responded to a pedestrian accident Saturday night that left one person requiring emergency medical attention.
According to preliminary reports, police and firefighters were called to the area of 500 Central Avenue at approximately 10:16 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Emergency responders at the scene requested an expedited response from EMS to assist the injured individual.
The victim was subsequently transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. The extent of the injuries has not been immediately confirmed.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The cause of the accident remains unclear.
