A pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Verona suffered fatal injuries according to authorities.
A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that a pedestrian was struck in the evening hours on Bloomfield Avenue in the city.
The victim later died from their injuries authorities said.
Police closed off a section of the avenue between Brookdale Ave and Malvern Place for the investigation.
Crime scene investigators and detectives from the Prosecutor's Office and Verona Police were conducting an investigation late into the evening according to residents in the area.
The identity of the victim and the circumstances behind the incident will be released later today authorities said.
