Authorities in Passaic County announced that on January 18, 2024, at approximately 7:58 p.m., the Pompton Lakes Police Department responded to the area of Ringwood Avenue near Carr Street on a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said the pedestrian, Daniel Schneider, a 69-year-old male from Bloomingdale, was subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, officials said.
Officials say this investigation is active and ongoing.
