Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Toms River

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is looking into a pedestrian strike incident that left one person dead and the vehicle involved reportedly leaving the scene in Toms River.

Emergency responders rushed to the area of NJ-70 just west of Route 9 after receiving reports for an injured person at around 11:15 p.m.

First arriving responders located the badly injured 34-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. after he was hit by two other vehicles - who remained at the scene - after the initial collision.

Police searched the area for a vehicle that was only described as a blue colored 2014-2016 Nissan 250 that has heavy front end damage that fled westbound on Rt. 70

An accident investigation had cops closing all eastbound lanes for over an hour where they searched the area for evidence.
