Authorities in Mercer County are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Ewing Township Sunday night.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to the area of North 6th Street and North Olden Avenue after receiving reports of a person lying in the roadway.
When police and EMS arrived, they found an unidentified individual unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle.
Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives secured the area as they launched an active and ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. 
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim, and it remains unclear whether the driver involved remained at the scene.
Authorities say more information is expected as the investigation continues.
