Police in Newark are on the scene investigating a pedestrian strike that resulted in fatal injuries this evening in the city’s North Ward.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened before 8 p.m. in the vicinity of Montclair Avenue an Broadway.
One unidentified person was rushed to University Hospital suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.
Doctors pronounced the victim dead a short time later according to officials.
Police closed Montclair Avenue in both directions from Broadway to Summer Avenue for the investigation.
