Monmouth County authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that killed one person overnight in Brielle.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. in the 500 block of Union Avenue where police responded to reports of an injured person at that location.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a severely injured unidentified person after a car struck them according to preliminary reports from police.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
An accident investigation team arrived to investigate what caused the fatal strike. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
