Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Two Vehicles on NJ Road

A 44-year-old man was killed Thursday night after being struck by two vehicles while crossing a busy highway in Atlantic County, authorities said.

 

The victim, Michael Alvarez, was attempting to cross Route 40 in Hamilton Township when he was first hit by a westbound SUV and then struck by an eastbound vehicle, according to police.

 

The collision occurred at approximately 7:38 p.m. near the intersection of Cantillon Boulevard, officials said. Alvarez, who lived in Egg Harbor Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said neither driver involved—a 48-year-old man from Vineland and a 45-year-old resident of Mays Landing—has been charged. Both remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with investigators.

 

The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
